Our preacher is a graduate of Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, Missouri and Cincinnati Bible Seminary in Cincinnati, Ohio. He and his wife, Becky, have three adult children, all of whom are faithful servants of the Lord. They have one grandson. Gene began his ministry with us in July, 1993. Previous ministries were in Missouri and Ohio. He sings in a southern gospel quartet, The Preachers Quartet, comprised of four ordained preachers. He is a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoys bicycling. He enjoys writing and loves to preach.
Becky is a Registered Nurse who works in the local hospital. She is instrumental - literally - in the congregation's music ministry, being our primary pianist and a vocalist.
Eric Dwyer is a graduate of Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO. Topeka, KS is his home, which explains one reason he is an avid fan of the Jayhawks. Eric began his ministry with us in 2008.
Besides basketball, Eric enjoys board games.
Eric is supported in his ministry by his wife, Sarah, who plays an integral part in the youth ministry. She is employed by a local bank.
Amy McKay - Children's Ministry Coordinator Mrs. Amy McKay is passionate about ministering to children and their families. The mother of three boys (Isaac, Bryce & Noah), Amy takes the responsibility of instilling God's Word into the hearts of children as a personal concern. As a Christian, she embraces the responsibility to minister to the entire family of the children God has entrusted to our care. Our congregation is blessed to have such a cheerful, energetic, and passionate cooredinator of our children's ministry!
Amy's husband, Walt, is a Christian counselor and leader on many levels in our congregation.
Forrest and Ivadel Cotter have been a part of our congregation longer than any of the other elders or preachers. They raised their children in this congregation, and are now helping to raise their grandchildren here.
Forrest is a successful business man whose integrity and generosity are appreciated by the community.
Gordon and Louise Addington moved here after he retired from the police force in suburban Denver, CO a few years ago. Both are involved in the teaching ministry of this congregation. Gordon drives a bus for the public school system. He can play the bagpipe, but is too much of a gentleman to do so. (This is based upon the definition one man gave for the word "gentleman." It is a man who knows how to play the bagpipe but doesn't.)
They have two adult children. Their daughter is married and active in ministry. Their son serves in the United States Air Force.
Bruce and Vicky Wolf have three sons, all of whom are students in college. Bruce graduated from college only recently, himself, having changed careers from being a chef to a physical therapist. He now owns his own practice in Mtn. Home.
Vicky is a well-loved teacher in our elementary education department. She is beautiful inside and out. Besides her real job as a preschool teacher, she has turned her love of mowing grass into a profitable business.
Rick and Jan have been a part of this congregation since the early 1990's, when they moved to the area from greater Chicago, IL. Rick owns two businesses, both relating to automobiles. The mechanic shop, 62 East Auto, is managed and operated by his oldest son, Jason. Mtn. Home Street Rods manufactures high quality coupes and hot rods. His youngest son, Brett, works with him. He has been recognized by the industry for excellence, having won the PPG Paint Award two years in a row. A gentleman who purchased one of his cars won the award in Florida last year.
Rick is an avid fisherman whose winnings in bass tournaments have been donated to missionary enterprises around the world. Their family enjoys living near the lakes, where you will find them nearly every weekend throughout the boating and skiing season.
Rick's wife, Jan, is an investment advisor who also serves the congregation as a Treasurer. Their middle son, Rick, is completing his education in the field of Physical Therapy.
Rick has been preparing for this role for several years. He was a faithful participant in our ShepherdSCHOOL.
David and Patsy returned to Mtn. Home in 2006, having retired from ministry in California, where he served as the Media Minister for the Eastside Christian Church in Fullerton. David's experience in ministry is extensive. He has been a professor in two of our Bible colleges and has served congregations in various staff positions, including Preacher.
He is a playright, whose scripts have been published and performed, some in prestigious venues. He is, as you may conclude, a wordsmith, possessing a unique ability to express ideas in a very creative and engaging manner.
David is developing a fledgling business he calls Heritage Videos. Employing his talents in the area of video production, David records the recollections and reflections of older family members so as to preserve their heritage and wisdom for succeeding generations. The business also produces video presentations for church promotions and special occasions, such as weddings.
David and his wife, Patsy (Summers), are from Mtn. Home. Patsy is a gifted vocalist who utilizes her talents in ministry, as well.
