UNITING GOD\'S PEOPLE

Staff
Gene McCoy - Preacher
Email

Our preacher is a graduate of Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, Missouri and Cincinnati Bible Seminary in Cincinnati, Ohio. He and his wife, Becky, have three adult children, all of whom are faithful servants of the Lord. They have three grandsons. Gene began his ministry with us in July, 1993. Previous ministries were in Missouri and Ohio. He sings in a southern gospel quartet, The Preachers Quartet, comprised of four ordained preachers. He is a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Missouri Tigers (football and basketball). He enjoys bicycling and walking. He enjoys writing and loves to preach.

Becky is a Registered Nurse who works in the local hospital. She is instrumental - literally - in the congregation's music ministry, being our primary pianist and a vocalist.

Eric Dwyer - Youth Minister
Email

Eric Dwyer is a graduate of Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO. Topeka, KS is his home, which explains one reason he is an avid fan of the Jayhawks. Eric began his ministry with us in 2008.

Besides basketball, Eric enjoys board games.

Eric is supported in his ministry by his wife, Sarah, who plays an integral part in the youth ministry. She is employed by a local bank.

Vanessa Peglar - Children's Ministry Coordinator

Mrs. Vanessa Peglar is passionate about ministering to children and their families. The mother of four boys (Easton, Riley, Jace and Jaxson), Vanessa takes the responsibility of instilling God's Word into the hearts of children as a personal concern. As a Christian, she embraces the responsibility to minister to the entire family of the children God has entrusted to our care. Our congregation is blessed to have such a cheerful, energetic, and passionate cooredinator of our children's ministry!

Vanessa's husband, Joey, is a real estate broker who also serves the congregation as a Deacon.

LaDonna Mendleski - Pre-school Education Ministry Coordinator

LaDonna Mendleski's education at Lyon College equipped her to serve our congregation in this critical ministry. Her career has been as a teacher in a local alternative school. She and her husband, Steve, have one child, Leo.

Becky McCoy - Music Minister

Becky is not only a wonderful preacher's wife, but an accomplished pianist with a very nice touch. Her musical ability enhances every worship gathering, especially when she adds vocal harmonies.

Forrest Cotter - Elder

Forrest and Ivadel Cotter have been a part of our congregation longer than any of the other elders or preachers. They raised their children in this congregation, and are now helping to raise their grandchildren here.

Forrest is a successful business man whose integrity and generosity are appreciated by the community.

Gordon Addington - Elder

Gordon and Louise Addington moved here after he retired from the police force in suburban Denver, CO a few years ago.  He can play the bagpipe, but is too much of a gentleman to do so. (This is based upon the definition one man gave for the word "gentleman." It is a man who knows how to play the bagpipe but doesn't.) Both are involved in the teaching ministry of this congregation.

They have two adult children and several grandchildren.

Gordon is currently on a temporary sabbatical from the Eldership.

Bruce Wolf - Elder

Bruce and Vicky Wolf have three sons, two of whom are married. They also have a granddaughter. After a career as a chef, Bruce returned to college to become a physical therapist. He owns his own practice in Mtn. Home.

Vicky is a well-loved teacher in our elementary education department. She is beautiful inside and out. Besides her real job as a preschool teacher, she has turned her love of mowing grass into a profitable business.

Rick Schmeski - Elder

Rick and Jan have been a part of this congregation since the early 1990's, when they moved to the area from greater Chicago, IL. Rick owns two businesses, both relating to automobiles. The mechanic shop, 62 East Auto, is managed and operated by his oldest son, Jason. Mtn. Home Street Rods manufactures high quality coupes and hot rods. His youngest son, Brett, works with him. He has been recognized by the industry for excellence, having won the PPG Paint Award two years in a row. A gentleman who purchased one of his cars won the award in Florida last year.

Rick is an avid fisherman whose winnings in bass tournaments have been donated to missionary enterprises around the world. Their family enjoys living near the lakes, where you will find them nearly every weekend throughout the boating and skiing season.

Rick's wife, Jan, is an investment advisor who also serves the congregation as a Treasurer. Rick and Jan have two granddaughters. Their middle son, Rick, received a doctorate in the field of Physical Therapy and married in 2011.

Rick has been preparing for this role for several years. He was a faithful participant in our ShepherdSCHOOL.

David Benedict - Elder

David and Patsy returned to Mtn. Home in 2006, having retired from ministry in California, where he served as the Media Minister for the Eastside Christian Church in Fullerton. David's experience in ministry is extensive. He has been a professor in two of our Bible colleges and has served congregations in various staff positions, including Preacher.

He is a playright, whose scripts have been published and performed, some in prestigious venues. He is, as you may conclude, a wordsmith, possessing a unique ability to express ideas in a very creative and engaging manner.

David is developing a fledgling business he calls Heritage Videos. Employing his talents in the area of video production, David records the recollections and reflections of older family members so as to preserve their heritage and wisdom for succeeding generations. The business also produces video presentations for church promotions and special occasions, such as weddings.

David bade temporary farewell to Patsy, who departed this life just a few days after they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June of 2011. He anticipates their reunion in eternity by the grace of God.

Don Truitt - Elder

Don spent many years in ministry, having served as the preacher for several congregations, one of which he helped to establish in WI. He is now self-employed as a real estate appraiser. His wife, Judy, is an administrative assistant at our local university.
